Energy and Low Carbon Sector Group: Energising the Environmental Sector

Wednesday 30th May 2012

Venue: Cobbetts, 58 Mosley Street, Manchester, M2 3HZ

Over the last decade there has been an industrial shift towards a lower carbon economy due to the acceleration of energy prices and the introduction of government policy. This has enabled a range of companies within the North West to exploit this change and grow a successful business. Such companies range from technology developers, service based organisations, consultancies and project developers. However, the last couple of years has seen the sector grapple with both sudden policy shifts and a significant reduction in financial support from governments both at home and abroad.

This fluctuating market has led to commercial investments in young companies to rise while prices of products (in solar, LEDs, etc.) continue to trend downwards and towards parity with their alternates.

This event aims to help businesses seeking commercial investment understand the options open to them and how to start the process of seeking that funding.

It aims to answer some straight forward questions like:

1)    Who is investing in my area at present?
2)    What are my options when talking to a bank?
3)    Why would someone want to invest in my business?
4)    How do I approach an investor and what are they looking for from me?
5)    Who do I need to speak to in order to help me to raise finance?
6)    Is there any government funding left?
7)    What is it like to take on commercial funding from new outside investors?

The event aims to be open and enjoyable with the opportunity to network with your peers and other advisors in the financial community to discuss these issues and many more.
