North West B2B parcel service expands thanks to a £250,000 loan from The North West Fund for Loans Plus

Press Release 30 June 2015

A new B2B parcel collection and delivery service launched by a North West company last January is proving popular with increasing numbers of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in the region.

Customers are impressed by ezi collections' regular, reliable service as well as the cost savings it can offer - up to 30% compared to other carriers.

The company, which is targeting an untapped niche in the rapidly growing home delivery market, has used a £250,000 loan from The North West Fund for Loans Plus managed by FW Capital to set up its web-based parcel management and tracking platform.

"ezi collections fills a gap in the market and offers SMEs a cost-effective local parcel collection and delivery service.  We offer a range of tailored services, including tracked services, and our prices are up to 30% cheaper than the competition.

"We're using the loan from The North West Fund for Loans Plus to set up and develop our online systems. We have also been able to negotiate contracts with national parcel carriers to ensure we can provide our customers with UK-wide coverage," explained Gary Monk, EZI Collections' Chief Executive.

ezi offers businesses a flexible collection and delivery service and its web-based platform allows them to manage all aspects of the service from label printing to tracking.

ezi has an ambitious business plan and aims to create more than 800 jobs over the next 5 years.

Chris Pestell, Investment Executive at FW Capital who led on the loan said: "Gary and the team have come up with an innovative, locally based service that's cost effective for small businesses.  ezi collections is now well into its first year of trading and already has a growing customer base.

"The loan from The North West Fund for Loans Plus has provided the company with the capital it needs to implement some key systems and support its continued expansion. ezi collections has the potential to become a major employer in Bolton."

Between them, ezi's management team have over 70 years' experience in the parcels and logistics sector and they have negotiated contracts with larger carriers to offer their service at discounted prices.

With its web-based parcel management and tracking platform in place, ezi collections is currently negotiating with more national carriers to expand the range of services it offers.

The £45m North West Fund for Loans Plus can lend between £50,000 and £750,000 to North West businesses. It is part of the £155m North West Fund, which is provided by the European Regional Development Fund and the European Investment Bank.
