OUR PEOPLE
CLIFF MAYLOR
As Chief Executive, Cliff assumes responsibility for the day-to-day running of the company and the overall management of the Fund.
Originally from Liverpool, he is a Chartered Accountant with a strong entrepreneurial background in the SME arena.
NEIL MORREY
Neil is our Chief Operating Officer, overseeing the delivery of the Fund through its investment period to the current portfolio management and realisation phase. He has many years' experience managing and delivering government backed programmes.
MIKE KENYON
Mike is our Chief Financial Officer. He is a Chartered Accountant and has held senior roles in several North West based PLCs. After qualifying, he spent time in London and most recently the Isle of Man where he was Group Finance Director for a private investment company.
MALCOLM EDGE
Malcolm is the Chairman of the Board at NWBF. Previously, Malcolm has held various management roles within KPMG and also sat on its UK and European Boards. In terms of clients, he had a portfolio of clients ranging from listed PLCs to smaller entrepreneurial businesses.
CLIVE BROOK
Clive is a Board Director at NWBF and also Chairman of the Investment Advisory Panel.
A qualified accountant and former Corporate Finance Partner at PKF in Manchester, Clive previously worked for 3i PLC. He has been heavily involved in the establishment of NWBF and other public sector venture capital funds.
MICHAEL PRINCE
Michael is a Director on the Board at NWBF.
A qualified solicitor, working for companies such as 3i PLC and DLA Piper, Michael currently holds non-executive and advisory positions at Solerox Ltd and Liverpool Chamber of Commerce.
RORY EARLEY
Rory is a Board Director at NWBF.
He has spent more than 20 years working with the UK Government on the development and implementation of various venture capital and lending programmes.
PAUL CHAMBERS
Paul joined the NWBF Board in January 2019. A chartered accountant, Paul trained with KPMG before moving into industry with Johnson Service Group PLC, later becoming CFO at Synexus Clinical Research Limited, a role he held for 8 years until 2018. Paul is currently on the Board of FutureMeds Limited.
BRENDA SMITH
Brenda is a member of our Investment Advisory Panel, with specific focus on the digital and creative sector.
With a successful career in media, Brenda was formerly the Managing Director of Granada Television and a Board member of NWDA.
JOHN NICHOLSON
John is a member of our Investment Advisory Panel, with specific focus on the biomedical sector.
John has extensive experience of the chemical and pharmaceutical industries as well as the management of early stage technology businesses.
CLARE SHAW
Clare is our Project Administrator overseeing the delivery of the Fund and carefully recording our outputs. Previously, Clare worked at the North West Development Agency for just over seven years, supporting the delivery of their programmes including involvement with ERDF funding.
LIZZIE DIBBLE
Lizzie is our Marketing and Communications Manager, responsible for coordinating our messaging throughout the investment period and into the current portfolio management stages of the Fund. Previously, she has worked for various financial organisations and as a broadcast journalist for BBC local radio.
